Exélixi is a sculptural floor lamp designed as a spatial element.

It frames the gaze and brings a calm presence to an interior. Its vertical silhouette acts as an anchor in space, even when turned off.

Designed to be the piece that stands alone.

Entirely 3D printed, Exélixi is made from PLA, a bioplastic derived from corn starch, tinted with recycled scallop shells.

Depending on the ambient light and the chosen intensity, its surface reveals different aspects. At times satin-like, at others more matte and textured, it highlights the natural qualities of the material and the nuances provided by the scallop shells.

Each piece features slight variations in hue. As the shells used to color the material are of natural origin, no two productions are perfectly identical.

Its name, Exélixi, means "evolution" in Greek. Its form follows a progressive movement: a dense and textured material at the base that gradually softens toward the top. A transition between strength and lightness, inspired by the passage from a turbulent landscape to a peaceful horizon.

It is available in two sizes and two texture versions:

Manufacturing lead times

Materials

  • Bio-based PLA made from corn and wheat starch
  • Recycled scallop shells sourced from restaurants in Normandy
  • Structure composed of 11 or 10 screwed modules

As the raw material is tinted with natural residue, color variations are inevitable. No two scallop shells are identical in nature. This makes every floor lamp unique!

Inspiration

More than just a floor lamp, Exélixi symbolizes an opening toward hope. Its name is “Exélixi” – which means “Evolution” in Greek. It is the evolution of the Metàvasi floor lamp created with Damien Schwed for the collaborative project "Mer Solidaire" for the benefit of SOS Méditerranée (see bespoke project for more info). Through its material, it gives concrete form to a change of state, whether physical, mental, and/or geographical. The transition from a heavy, cumbersome state to a lighter and softer one. The base, dense and imposing, is covered with a rough, striated texture resembling an aggregate of sand, scallop shells, and water, as if a storm had stirred these three elements together to create a new material.

Its silhouette, meanwhile, reaches toward the sky and gradually becomes smooth.
